Environmental Consultant Registers Dog as Waste Collector
Environmental consultancy, Eunomia's managing director has registered a dog as a licenced rubbish collector to highlight failings in checks carried out by the Environment Agency.
A report written by Eunomia says "systematic failure" to regulate the UK's waste carriers, brokers & dealers is resulting in record levels of waste crime and fly-tipping.
The Environment Agency carry out so few identity checks on applicants for licences that Mike Brown, MD of Eunomia, said he was able to register his dead dog for one.
“Regulators have been under-resourced and encouraged to take a light-touch approach in order to be business friendly,” said Mike Brown “Ironically, this is actually harming the interests of legitimate waste businesses while giving criminals an easy ride.”. The research was carried out for the Environmental Services Association, an industry group.← Back to News
